Maintaining Healthy Hips and Knees

Full body or Toning is a gentle workout with the goal of improving balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, and heart health. Free Citizenship Classes

Learn everything you need to know about American history, government, and culture to pass the citizenship exam. Register in person at the library on Wednesday, July 11 at 10AM or call 718-278-4303 to preregister in advance. Students should have a copy of their green card when they come to register. Participants must to attend the entire 12 week class series. Candidates must be green card holders. The first day of class is registration day where they should have a copy of their green card.

Wild West: The Mystery of the Golden Piano

Grab your spurs and journey with us to the Wild West, where a legendary bank-robbing outlaw is back in town, about to strike again! After the sheriff mysteriously vanishes, two young kids saddle up to foil the great heist and put a rotten cowboy back behind bars! We use awesome science experiments to bring key parts of the story to life.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Mariachi Tapatío de Álvaro Paulino

Location: Broadway

Founded in 1983, Mariachi Tapatio de Álvaro Paulino, under the direction of Puebla-born Mexican Álvaro Paulino, is considered one of the finest mariachi bands in New York City. The band's music includes “corridos,” a form of storytelling in song that is enjoyed by young and old.

Coming in October! This an innovative 12- week program lets tweens (ages 9-12) reinterpret their favorite books using tech tools, apps, and programs. Participants will develop technological, analytic, and interpersonal skills while creating book-inspired temporary tattoos and stickers, pin-backed buttons, postcards, comic strips, stop-motion animation, video games using Scratch coding, and video slideshows. We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
