Summer Reading: Book Buddies

Children can improve their literacy skills this summer by reading aloud with a friendly teenage or adult volunteer. Book Buddies will be available from 2 to 3 pm every weekday afternoon for readers ages 5 to 12. No registration required; sign up for a 15-minute session in the Children's Room.

Free Citizenship Classes

Location: Broadway
Registration: Registration is not yet open for this program. Please check back closer to the program date.
Details: Customers are required to attend all sessions of this program. Registering for this session will reserve your spot for the entire program.

Learn everything you need to know about American history, government, and culture to pass the citizenship exam. Participants must attend the entire 12-class series. Please arrive at 10 am sharp on Wednesday, July 3 to register in person at the Broadway Library (first-come, first-served) or call 718-278-4303 to preregister in advance. Candidates must be green card holders. The first day of class is the registration day when they should bring a copy of their green card.

Enjoy a different space-themed book and activity each week! Make a sun, star, moon, or planet button pin! Learn about the constellations and draw a starry scene! Create a new planet with a beach ball! Mix up some glittery space slime! Construct a rocket ship photo frame! String some sparkly galaxy bracelets! This program is for children ages 5-12 years. QEDC: Business Plan Competition

The Queens Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition begins in September 2019. The competition gives entrepreneurs a chance to strengthen their business knowledge, learn about business trends, and gain insights into starting and growing a business while also introducing them to the vast resources available to them at Queens Public Library. Learn more at these information sessions and watch for more news about classes starting in October.


Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
