Shape Up NYC: Full Body Toning for Adults

Full body or Toning is a gentle workout with the goal of improving balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, and heart health. The Grain of Wood: A Shadow Puppet Show

Location: Broadway

"The Grain of Wood" is a multidisciplinary shadow puppet show based on the Japanese novella "The Five-Storied Pagoda" written by Koda Rohan. This is a story about a highly skilled but unsuccessful carpenter who, against all odds, builds an architectural masterpiece. The show is directed by Watoku Ueno with music by Shu Odamura. This special performance is for adults and families with children ages 7 and up.

QEDC: Business Plan Competition

The Queens Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition begins in September 2018. The competition gives entrepreneurs a chance to strengthen their business knowledge, learn about business trends, and gain insights into starting and growing a business while also introducing them to the vast resources available to them at Queens Library. We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
