STACKS: Homework Help

Location: Bayside

STACKS is a free enrichment program for children in grades 1 to 8. STACKS was created to enhance participant's learning experiences through structured and unstructured age-appropriate activities in a safe and welcoming environment that helps school-age children build their emotional, social, and academic skills. Homework Help is the keystone of the STACKS program. It occurs daily after school for 60-90 minutes. Registration is required. Please call or come to the library to register.

Coding Club: Introduction to Scratch

Location: Bayside
Registration: By phone or in person
Details: Customers are required to attend all sessions of this program. Registering for this session will reserve your spot for the entire program.

This club will introduce children in grades 3-5 to computer science and the programming language Scratch via various activities. Design your own stories, and create and share your own animations. Knowledge of basic computer literacy skills and 3rd grade reading, writing, and math is recommended. Space is limited and registration is required before the first session. Please call or come to the library to register. Registration starts on December 20. You must attend all sessions.

Lunar New Year: Learn How to Make Korean-Style Pumpkin Porridge, Hobakjuk

Hobakjuk is a Korean- style pumpkin porridge. It has a rich aroma, great taste, and numerous nutritional values. Come and learn how to make smooth, colorful hobakjuk and warm up from the winter weather! This program is on a first-come, first-served basis. Shape Up NYC: Yoga for Adults

Location: Bayside

This healing session is appropriate for those who wish to finally add the healing qualities of yoga into their lives. Instructor Alice moves the body through the classical poses very slowly, gently, and conscientiously. You will also learn important breathing exercises. Everyone will leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. Please bring a yoga mat and water to keep hydrated, and wear comfortable clothing. Space is limited. Participation is first-come, first-served.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
