This Weekend at Queens Library

This weekend, Queens Library wants you to enjoy a special family performance by Queens Theatre; learn about Chinese folk songs and culture with musician Yixuan Pang; join us for a film screening and discussion with filmmaker Elliot Storey; celebrate the amazing work of manga artists; see the last film in the Hobbit trilogy; and learn more about sickle cell disease and free testing for HIV. All programs are free and no registration is required. We hope to see you there!

 

 

 

 

Queens Theatre Presents Page to Stage Family Reading Hour
Enjoy a reading of excerpts from "Junie B. Jones, One-Man Band," followed by fun activities led by Queens Theatre education staff. Participants and their families will be given free ticket vouchers to see our musical production of the book.

America International Culture and Education Communication Center Presents: China, A Lyrical Journey

Chinese: 以普及中国传统民歌知识,传扬中国传统文化为目的,本場獨特的音樂會由青年歌唱家庞旋主讲並演唱。活动选择有代表性的10首中国民歌,从历史背景、地域特征、演唱风格、语言特点以及发声方法等方面,为观众讲述与展示。其中一部分歌曲,比如《茉莉花》和《康定情歌》等世界知名的曲目,首次用英文填写歌词並演唱。 活动分为上下半场,各30分钟,中间穿插表演嘉宾的节目,共计一个小时10分钟。 時間:3月28日,星期六 下午5點 地點: 法拉盛圖書館劇場

At this lecture and performance program to promote the knowledge of Chinese folk songs and traditional culture, Chinese musician Yixuan Pang will perform ten famous Chinese folk songs and explain their background, features, style and language characteristics. Some of the selections, such as "Jasmine" and "Kangding Love Song," will be sung in English for the first time.

Filmmaker Talk and Screening: "Reconciliation" by Elliot Storey
This film incorporates dance and sculpture into a narrative about a family's breakdown and reconciliation. Elliot Storey will discuss his work and answer questions following the screening.
