In Search of Earth’s Secrets: A Pop-Up Science Encounter

Are you curious about how our planet has evolved in the past—and how it is changing now?

Join us this summer and fall for a unique pop-up science exhibit where you will learn how scientists on board a research drilling ship are studying the seafloor’s core!

The JOIDES Resolution is a ship that drills into the ocean's floor to collect and study core samples. "In Search of Earth’s Secrets" is an exhibit based on the ship's research, with exciting information about Earth’s past, present, and future that the entire family will enjoy together.

Come find out how the JOIDES Resolution can drill down through waters as deep as 23,000 feet, and learn about deep sea fossils, underwater volcanos, and more at six kiosks on display at four library locations this summer, along with an inflatable, 45-foot replica of the JOIDES Resolution!

In Search of Earth’s Secrets begins July 14 at our Arverne, Peninsula, Far Rockaway, and Queens Library for Teens locations before moving to Flushing Library on August 15 and Central Library in Jamaica on September 6.

Visit our In Search of Earth’s Secrets webpage for more information and the full schedule of events.

Bring your entire family to this amazing science and discovery experience!
