Tax Preparation Assistance

The National Association of Black Accountants offers free income tax preparation assistance on Saturdays for those with an annual income under $40,000. Come early; there is a limit of 20 persons per day.

Harlem Remembered: 1919-1939

Xoregos Performing Company presents a tribute to Harlem with an array of performances that includes performances of plays by Eulalie Spence and Marita Bonner, poetry by Langston Hughes and others, folk tales collected by Zora Neale Hurston and Joel Chandler Harris and songs of the era, both rare and unknown.

Computers for Beginners (In Spanish)

Registration: Registration is not yet open for this program. Please check back closer to the program date.
Details: Customers are required to attend all sessions of this program. Registering for this session will reserve your spot for the entire program.

Learn computer basics. 2/14 - Introduction to the computer; 2/21 - Navigating the Internet; 2/28 - Creating your own email account. Participants must attend all three classes. Preregistration is required in person at the Reference Desk beginning Saturday, February 7 at 10:00AM.

ShapeUp NYC: Cardio Sculpt for Adults

This cardio-aerobics class led by Shanna Davis will include exercises to popular music and is designed to get your heart rate up while toning and sculpting your entire body. Space is limited. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cultural Programs

New Americans Program offers Cultural Arts programs celebrating the arts and literature of ethnic groups in Queens communities. Programs are presented in the Central Library and in community libraries. Offerings include music, dance, drama performances, bilingual poetry and storytelling. Cultural arts programs are bilingual in English and the language of the culture being showcased.


Coping Skills

New Americans Program offers Copings Skills workshops: lectures and workshops to help immigrants adjust to life in America presented in selected community libraries as well as the Central Library. Programs are presented in English and in the major immigrant languages of Queens by lawyers, teachers, counselors and other professionals. Topics presented include immigration law, becoming a citizen, tenants rights, career planning, starting a business, parenting, education and health.
