In these classes, participants will learn basic qigong exercises, tai chi walking and tai chi yang style 24 forms. These easy-to-do exercises and techniques are for everyone interested in natural health and well-being.

Job Readiness with New York Cares

Location: Woodside
Registration: Not required

We will help participants search for jobs, fill out online applications and prepare resumes and cover letters. Participants may also practice basic computer skills and receive guidance on preparing for and following up after a job interview.

Cultural Programs

New Americans Program offers Cultural Arts programs celebrating the arts and literature of ethnic groups in Queens communities. Programs are presented in the Central Library and in community libraries. Offerings include music, dance, drama performances, bilingual poetry and storytelling. Cultural arts programs are bilingual in English and the language of the culture being showcased.


Coping Skills

New Americans Program offers Copings Skills workshops: lectures and workshops to help immigrants adjust to life in America presented in selected community libraries as well as the Central Library. Programs are presented in English and in the major immigrant languages of Queens by lawyers, teachers, counselors and other professionals. Topics presented include immigration law, becoming a citizen, tenants rights, career planning, starting a business, parenting, education and health.
