Beautiful Music, Beautiful Writing

Location: Rochdale Village
Registration: Not required

In the first half hour of this weekly one-hour session, children in grades 1-8 will practice their penmanship and cursive writing while listening to jazz and classical music. In the second half hour, we will learn simple phrases in Spanish, French and Japanese.

Picture Book Story Time

The Mr. Chris Musical Experience

Location: Rochdale Village
Registration: Not required

Learning is fun when fun is learning. It’s time to think and get your brain wheels turning. Check out the show you just can’t miss: A Musical Experience with Mr. Chris! Children ages 6-12 will enjoy movement, storytelling, puppetry, comedy and hip hop musical theater.

Cultural Programs

New Americans Program offers Cultural Arts programs celebrating the arts and literature of ethnic groups in Queens communities. Programs are presented in the Central Library and in community libraries. Offerings include music, dance, drama performances, bilingual poetry and storytelling. Cultural arts programs are bilingual in English and the language of the culture being showcased.


Coping Skills

New Americans Program offers Copings Skills workshops: lectures and workshops to help immigrants adjust to life in America presented in selected community libraries as well as the Central Library. Programs are presented in English and in the major immigrant languages of Queens by lawyers, teachers, counselors and other professionals. Topics presented include immigration law, becoming a citizen, tenants rights, career planning, starting a business, parenting, education and health.
