No-Cost Digital Mammograms

Registration: Not required

The Mobile Care Clinic will be at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 122-05 Smith Street, Jamaica, to provide no-cost digital mammograms to women aged 40 and older with health insurance, or aged 50 and older without health insurance, who are current New York City residents and have had no mammogram in the past 12 months; no co-pays are required and deductibles will be waived. An appointment is necessary; call Rosalie at 718-723-6287 to schedule one.

Cultural Programs

New Americans Program offers Cultural Arts programs celebrating the arts and literature of ethnic groups in Queens communities. Programs are presented in the Central Library and in community libraries. Offerings include music, dance, drama performances, bilingual poetry and storytelling. Cultural arts programs are bilingual in English and the language of the culture being showcased.

Coping Skills

New Americans Program offers Copings Skills workshops: lectures and workshops to help immigrants adjust to life in America presented in selected community libraries as well as the Central Library. Programs are presented in English and in the major immigrant languages of Queens by lawyers, teachers, counselors and other professionals. Topics presented include immigration law, becoming a citizen, tenants rights, career planning, starting a business, parenting, education and health.
