Belly Dancing 101: An Introduction

Belly dancing, also known as "raqs sharqui," is an ancient, mystical and healing dance form. Learn its fundamentals with Cashel Campbell. Preregistration is required for each session at queenslibrary.org/events.

Social Media for Older Adults

Location: Rochdale Village

Details: Customers are required to attend all sessions of this program. Registering for this session will reserve your spot for the entire program.

This program on the use of social media such as Facebook and Instagram will be held at the Rochdale Village Senior Center. Call Dr. Salwa Elmeawad at Rochdale Village Library to preregister.

Pedestrian Safety for Seniors

Location: Rochdale Village
Registration: Not required

Eric Miu, Community Coordinator for the New York City Department of Transportation's Office of Safety Education, will conduct this pedestrian safety workshop to educate seniors about crossing New York City streets. Seniors will learn safety tips and about Mayor de Blasio's new traffic safety initiative, Vision Zero. There will be a question-and-answer session at the end of the presentation.

Anything Goes! with Eddie Lee Isaacs and Friends

Location: Rochdale Village

Eddie and his friends dip into a grab bag of great American songs and perform selections of jazz, rock 'n' roll, pop, blues and everything in between.

Cultural Programs

New Americans Program offers Cultural Arts programs celebrating the arts and literature of ethnic groups in Queens communities. Programs are presented in the Central Library and in community libraries. Offerings include music, dance, drama performances, bilingual poetry and storytelling. Cultural arts programs are bilingual in English and the language of the culture being showcased.


Coping Skills

New Americans Program offers Copings Skills workshops: lectures and workshops to help immigrants adjust to life in America presented in selected community libraries as well as the Central Library. Programs are presented in English and in the major immigrant languages of Queens by lawyers, teachers, counselors and other professionals. Topics presented include immigration law, becoming a citizen, tenants rights, career planning, starting a business, parenting, education and health.
