Tax Preparation Assistance

Registration: Not required

IRS-trained counselors will help you complete your 2014 personal income tax return. Be sure to bring a copy of your 2013 income tax return(s); all W-2 forms, 1099 forms and other documents for tax year 2014; unemployment compensation statements; your SSA-1099 form if you received Social Security benefits; a photo ID for every person listed on the return; and Social Security cards or other official documentation for yourself and all dependents.

International Film Screening and Discussion

Cultural Programs

New Americans Program offers Cultural Arts programs celebrating the arts and literature of ethnic groups in Queens communities. Programs are presented in the Central Library and in community libraries. Offerings include music, dance, drama performances, bilingual poetry and storytelling. Cultural arts programs are bilingual in English and the language of the culture being showcased.


Coping Skills

New Americans Program offers Copings Skills workshops: lectures and workshops to help immigrants adjust to life in America presented in selected community libraries as well as the Central Library. Programs are presented in English and in the major immigrant languages of Queens by lawyers, teachers, counselors and other professionals. Topics presented include immigration law, becoming a citizen, tenants rights, career planning, starting a business, parenting, education and health.
