Bring your own cards (official and no Japanese versions or stall decks) to compete for the championship. The winner will receive a booster pack or a choice of a limited edition card.

Indie Short Film Screening and a Conversation with the Filmmaker

Location: Flushing
Registration: Not required

Queens resident Robertson Tirado wrote, directed and produced "The Lost Interview of Carlina La Salle.” The 18-minute fictional docudrama, which debuted at the New Filmmakers New York Film Festival in October, explores the life of a prominent German-born actress who comes to New York in the early 20th century to act in the "talkies." Tirado will discuss the making of the film and his inspiration as a filmmaker. A question-and-answer session will follow the screening.

Cultural Programs

New Americans Program offers Cultural Arts programs celebrating the arts and literature of ethnic groups in Queens communities. Programs are presented in the Central Library and in community libraries. Offerings include music, dance, drama performances, bilingual poetry and storytelling. Cultural arts programs are bilingual in English and the language of the culture being showcased.


Coping Skills

New Americans Program offers Copings Skills workshops: lectures and workshops to help immigrants adjust to life in America presented in selected community libraries as well as the Central Library. Programs are presented in English and in the major immigrant languages of Queens by lawyers, teachers, counselors and other professionals. Topics presented include immigration law, becoming a citizen, tenants rights, career planning, starting a business, parenting, education and health.
