"Odd People Out" is a documentary about the marginalization, repression and denial of the gay community during the first two decades of the Cuban Revolution, told through the voice of Cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas. Following the screening, the film’s writer-director, Manuel Zayas, Prof. Perla Rozencvaig and playwright Héctor Santiago will discuss the movie and answer questions.

Cultural Programs
New Americans Program offers Cultural Arts programs celebrating the arts and literature of ethnic groups in Queens communities. Programs are presented in the Central Library and in community libraries. Offerings include music, dance, drama performances, bilingual poetry and storytelling. Cultural arts programs are bilingual in English and the language of the culture being showcased.
Coping Skills
New Americans Program offers Copings Skills workshops: lectures and workshops to help immigrants adjust to life in America presented in selected community libraries as well as the Central Library. Programs are presented in English and in the major immigrant languages of Queens by lawyers, teachers, counselors and other professionals. Topics presented include immigration law, becoming a citizen, tenants rights, career planning, starting a business, parenting, education and health.
