Make Your Own Bead Loom and Bracelet with Bowne House Museum

Location: Flushing
Registration: Not required

Children ages 6-12 will learn the same method that our local Native Americans, the Lenape, used to string shells called Wampum together to form belts. This workshop will involve a short discussion about the early interactions between the Lenape and the Europeans and how our local landscape was used for subsistence farming and large-scale agricultural farms.

Make Your Own Flushing Timeline with Bowne House

Location: Flushing
Registration: Not required

Children will discuss what they would have seen our their windows on various dates since Flushing’s founding in 1645 and will look at visuals from the different time periods provided by Bowne House. They will then construct their own timeline of what Flushing has looked like over time using paper, crayons, copied images, and their own drawings.

join us from 3-4:30 pm for a book discussion of “The Girl Who Drank the Moon” by Kelly Barnhill.
A fun activity will follow the discussion.
