A monthly support group in Mandarin Chinese for people caring for a person with Alzheimer’s or any of the other dementias. Our support group is a secure and safe place to share your experiences. The group will meet on Sundays, January 21 and February 18.

QEDC: Business Plan Competition

The Queens Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition begins in September 2017. The competition gives entrepreneurs a chance to strengthen their business knowledge, learn about business trends and gain insights into starting and growing a business while also introducing them to the vast resources available to them at Queens Library. Save Money, E-File Your Taxes for Free

If your 2017 income is under $66,000 or less, you qualify to receive free online tax return filing assistance. Volunteers from the New York State Tax Department will guide you through tax preparation software available on their website as you learn how to prepare and e-file your federal and state income tax returns at no cost. Volunteers will be available that speak English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

Lunar New Year Calligraphy Exhibit and Writing

In celebration of Lunar New Year, senior Chinese calligrapher Thomson Chou and his associates will hold a half-day exhibit and workshop to mark the beginning of the Year of the Dog. Thomson Chou
graduated from National Taiwan University and studied Chinese calligraphy for more than 60 years. He would like to introduce Chinese Traditional Calligraphy art and culture to the mainstream public.
