Serves primarily residents of Queens whose first language is other than English. Works closely with ethnic community organizations and branch libraries to assess local needs, link residents with existing neighborhood and systemwide library services, and create new services. Special services and programs include: coping skills programs in immigrant languages to facilitate immigrants' acculturation; basic computer classes in Spanish; cultural arts programs and performances; popular books and other materials in immigrant languages, including materials to help immigrants learn English; and an information and referral service.
Coping skills and cultural arts programs are held in community libraries throughout Queens.
Mon-Fri 9-5. Programs held afternoons/evenings/weekends.
Residents of Queens whose primary language is other than English.
