Description:Compañeras provides counseling and support services to battered and formerly battered women in community offices located in Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens. Offers a wide range of services including individual counseling, support groups and children services. Compañeras helps women secure needed services such as, shelter, housing, public assistance, and Crime Victim's Compensation. They also provide women with information about their legal options and help women obtain orders of protection, as well as, provide referrals to attorneys for divorce, child custody, child support, and immigration matters (VAWA self-petitions). Through these efforts, women develop the tools and strategies to lead violent free, independent lives.
