Description:This is a mental health service focusing on responsibility and personal power which helps the individual develop skills and confidence, and identify and set goals. Personal goals may relate to housing, vocational exploration and training. Program features include: One-on-one counseling; group sessions; GED remediation; career explorations & vocational assessment; life skills training; job readiness assessment; job search skills, resume preparation, interview techniques; job placement assistance. Additional opportunities are available to explore real life issues such as remaining drug free, relating better to peers, discovering interests and abilities. There are opportunities to explore vocational options and become involved in community service projects.
Hours:Mon - Sat 10 am - 6 pm.
Eligibility Requirements:A daily and Saturday program for young persons 16-21. Queens residents diagnosed as seriously emotionally disturbed officially (SED). Participants may be in the mainstream school system, alternative youth/special educational programs or outside the service system.
Fees/Methods of Payment:Free; Lunch and reimbursement for public transportation are provided.
