Description:

The Corona-Elmhurst Guidance Center provides a broad range of counseling services to people living in the surronding communities (including Jackson Heights, Corona, Elmhurst, East Elmhurst, Sunnyside and Woodside). Adults and children come to the center for help when problems of daily life becomes too great to cope with on their own. Unhappiness, stress, life crises, marital problems, family conflicts, poor school adjustments and behavior difficulties are some of the problems with which we help people cope.

The center provides individual, group and family counseling; crisis intervention services; psychological testing; psychiatric evaluation and medication when indicated. The center also provides treatment for drug addiction and alcoholism, offering counseling for the active abuser as well as support counseling for recovering addicts and alcoholics. We have two types of 12-step meetings on the premises, AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous).

Other services provided is a World of Work program and a day treatment program (available Mon - Fri, 8:30 - 3:30 pm by appt). Please call for more information. The World of Word programs teach resume writing, interview techniques, job expectations, time management, money management, how to interact with the boss and co-workers, and much more.
