SQPA’s Preventive Programs at the Roy Wilkins Family Center (Families in Need) and the Beacon at Middle School 8 (The Beacon Preventive Program) provides family, group, and individual counseling services. We operate from an asset or strength based perspective, which enables families and individuals to address the various issues that cause crisis, dysfunction, or instability.   We have trained staff who help individuals to address: child abuse, neglect, family violence, chemical dependency, mental illness, juvenile truancy and delinquency, substance abuse and alcoholism.

We provide supportive services that keep families cohesive and strong, while minimizing the safety factors that can put children at risk and cause parents stress. We also offer supportive groups that provide parenting support and training, domestic violence intervention, mental health screenings, and therapeutic art classes.
