Description:This organization provides support, information, and training to relatives and others concerned about nursing home residents. This organization offers problem solving and advocacy to improve nursing home care and to help those having problems with the care that is provided. Information is made available about choosing nursing homes and other long term care. Telephone helplines, educational outreach meetings, and speakers for family groups at nursing homes are other services.
The telephone helpliine answers questions about placement, choosing the right home, Medicaid funding, and alternatives, especially home care. FRIA's trained counselors help families handle the placement process from the hospital or community and help them select the right home for their relatives and problems that occur in a nursing home.
