Family Adoption Registry
Address:52 Washington Street Room 323 North Rensselaer NY 12144
World Wide Web: http://www.ocfs.state.ny.us/main
The Family Adoption Registry is an opportunity for prospective parents to register their interest in adopting New York State's waiting children. The Family Adoption Registry contains information on families who are interested in adopting photolisted children. This information will be available to adoption staff throughout the state in order to facilitate the matching of children to prospective families. The Family Adoption Registry is a quick and easy way to match prospective families and waiting children.
Mon.-Fri., 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
You can be on the Family Registry if:
•You are a New York State Resident interested in adopting a photolisted child
•You are a resident of another state interested in adopting a photolisted child and are working with a NYS Authorized agency.
•You are a resident of another state interested in adopting a photolisted child and you have a favorably completed home study.
New York State residents interested in adopting photolisted children can contact their local social services district. You should request an Application to Adopt and request to be placed on the Family Adoption Registry. You will only be placed on the Registry if you are interested in adopting a photolisted child. Your caseworker will be able to verify when you have been added to the registry.
Out-of-state residents working with a NYS Authorized agency can register by asking their caseworker to submit a copy of their Application to Adopt to NYSAS or by doing so themselves.
Out-of-state residents can register, as long as they have a favorably completed homestudy. To register, an out-of-state resident may print and complete a copy of the Family Adoption Registry Information Form or register online by completing the Online Out-of-State Family Registry Form. Submit the form, along with verification of homestudy completion to New York State Adoption Service. A copy of the page signed by the agency worker that completed your home study which documents the agency recommendation and outcome of the study constitutes verification.
