United Spinal Association is a national organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life of all people living with a spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D). Having merged with the National Spinal Cord Injury Association, United Spinal is currently the largest organization in the United States dedicated to serving individuals with SCI/D. Our combined membership is 40,000 individuals and we have 30 chapters nationwide.
Some of our programs include: accessible travel service, resource center, advocacy for veterans with disabilities and assistance with filing claims, advocacy for seating and mobility equipment, ensuring the built environment is accessible to people with disabilities, dedicated websites including “Ask Us”, “Ask VetsFirst”, “USA TechGuide,” and informative publications (Disability Etiquette, Accessible Air Travel, Fire Safety for Wheelchair Users at Work and at Home, Americans with Disabilities Act, Impact of Healthcare Reform, Taking Action, Access Local Government, The Fair Housing Act, How to Display our Flag, Life In Action, New Mobility.
Spinal cord injured veterans residing primarily in New York, New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and Connecticut are eligible.
Form DD 214 (discharge papers) for veterans.
