Description:This agency operates a crime victim compensation program by which the innocent victims of crime, their families, and certain others closely affected by the crime may be eligible for financial assistance for certain out-of-pocket expenses associated with the crime, including medical expense, funeral/burial expense, loss of earnings or support, counseling expense, and vocational rehabilitation expense. This agency also operates a grants-in-aid program by which funding is provided to approximately one-hundred crime victim services providers throughout the State. Also, N.Y.S. residents who are victims of a crime out of state, can also obtain benefits from this agency.
