"The Coalition for the Homeless was founded in 1980 on the principle that decent shelter, sufficient food and affordable housing are fundamental rights in a civilized society. The Coalition also fights legal battles on behalf of the homeless. Recognizing that direct services are critical to the survival of people on the streets, the Coalition provides food (via a mobile soup kitchen), clothing and blankets to the homeless, access to phone voicemail, and also helps secure emergency services from public and private agencies. The Coalition also provides job-readiness training for women and rental assistance for men, women and families. Walk-in service.
