Description:This Center was established to serve New York State residents who are academically unprepared for college level study and vocationally unprepared for employment, lack modern skills, and are from low to moderate income households. Services include complete academic assessment; remedial, academic and vocational classes (ESL, GED); a full-range of support services; referral services; job readiness training; security training; college prep.; and employment counseling, computer literacy, computerized medical billing, and home health aide. Applications are accepted Mon.-Fri., 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m.; Mon, Wed, 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Affiliated with York College.
Hours:Weekdays: 9:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Hours for classes vary.
Eligibility Requirements:Applicants must be residents of New York State for one (1) year and at least 17 years of age to be considered for admissions. In addition, there are academic and economic eligibility requirements.
Admission Requirements/Documents:For residency: Applicants must have resided in New York State for at least 12 months. Acceptable kinds of documentation are: NYS driver's license, copy of utility bill, copy of last year's 1040 and W2 with New York address, proof of receipt of public assistance and food stamps, permanent resident card, etc. High School Diploma, as required. For age, acceptable kinds of documentation are: NYS driver's license, birth/baptismal certificate, military documentation, etc.
Fees/Methods of Payment:Free. $20 refundable book deposit.
