Description:
Using the self-help approach and with selective assistance, Center members are empowered to address concerns in the following areas: -English as a Second Language; -Access to community based mental health services and the health care system; -Entitlements: S.S.I., S.S.D., Medicaid, etc.; -Education and employment opportunities; -Advocacy/empowerment; -Socialization & leisure time activities; -Activities of daily living; -Anti-stigma initiatives; -Computer classes.
Hours:
M 11-7; Tue-Thurs 10-7; Sat 10-3.
Eligibility Requirements:
Resident of Western Queens, 18 years or older, diagnosis of mental illness and willingness to help others.
Admission Requirements/Documents:
Intake interview. Psychosocial history, annual physical exam, if possible.
Fees/Methods of Payment:Free.
Access for People with Disabilities:Single floor and special restroom facilities.
