Provides comprehensive social services to the Arab community living in the New York metropolitan region. The goal of the center is to strengthen families by providing essential services and community support. The center is staffed by Arabic-speaking professionals who are sensitive to the cultural and language needs of families of Arab ethnicity. The center addresses issues of: immigration and cultural assimilation; health and safety of family members; education and language problems; employment; discrimination. The center provides: individual, family and group counseling; crisis intervention and emergency services; client advocacy and translations; English as a Second Language and citizenship classes; tutoring for client children. The center refers clients for: health services and drug treatment; housing assistance; clinical and psychiatric services; child care; immigration and legal support; job training and career counseling.
