STREET OUTREACH TO YOUTH AT RISK Counselors and peer advisors work in community patrols on the streets where youth are exposed to the threat of gangs, drugs, violence and crime. Program offers a chance for them to connect, belong, and do something useful and fun with free time. Includes basketball and baseball leagues, tennis, gang involvement prevention and intervention, and peer counseling. Immigrant services, citizenship classes, adult literacy, ESOL. SUMMER RAINBOW A safe and structured place for children to spend their summer. Includes art and music, organized sports, and cultural field trips. BALLET FOLKLORICO Youngsters receive training in the various dance forms of diverse Latin American regions. SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM Summer employment for youth provides an opportunity to learn the importance of a strong work ethic while providing real job experience. FAMILY SERVICES IN THE SCHOOL Comprehensive case management and referral services for public assistance recipients who are parents of children in the Attendance Improvement Dropout Prevention program. Includes family counseling, education, job training and placement. YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Participants form part of a Youth Council which participates in community board hearings and budgetary reviews, and helps develop action plans.
