POLITICAL ASYLUM REPRESENTATION Provided to Salvadorans and Guatemalans, including pro bono defense by a 200+ attorney panel, and training of applicants in self-representation. CHILDREN'S EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY Defense and advocacy challenging enrollment discrimination of refugee children in public school. Cultural and educational outreach to students and faculty. IMMIGRATION STATUS ADVOCACY Permanent resident and citizenship petitions, maintenance of Temporary Protected Status on behalf of Salvadorans, and regional INS policy advocacy. EMPLOYEE ANTI-DISCRIMINATION EDUCATION A New York State funded project to teach workers their rights in the hiring process and on the job, and how to defend against discrimination. HUMAN RIGHTS OFFICE Human rights fact finding and documentation for asylum work, public education and lobbying. Includes a litigation unit challenging major discrimination cases before the federal courts. PUBLICATIONS: "El Norte" Legal Educational Bulletin
