QUEENS MEDIATION NETWORK A comprehensive network of mediation services dealing with disputes involving neighbors, family members, group conflicts, landlords and tenants, and school-related issues. FAMILY MEDIATION SERVICES Offers direct services in the area of divorce and parenting. Issues mediated include child custody/parenting, separation agreements, divorce settlements, family businesses, estate issues and health issues. QUEENS ADOLESCENT DIVERSION PROGRAM (QADP) Provides services to delinquent, PINS (person in need of supervision) and at-risk youth. Each youth is matched with a college student mentor trained in community advocacy and family mediation. They spend 6-8 hours together weekly for 15 weeks in a highly structured, goal-oriented program that addresses such issues as education, free-time activities, family relations and employment. COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVES FOR FAMILIES IN CRISIS (CAFC) Functions as the Designated Assessment Unit for the Queens Family Court, diverting at-risk youth who would otherwise be designated PINS (person in need of supervision). Offers crisis intervention, needs assessment, psychological consultations, linkage with resources, substance abuse assessment, educational advocacy, teen group, parent group. YOUTH MEDIATION CORPS A community-based youth leadership program in Jamaica. Its mission is to empower youth to become actively involved in the political, economic and social institutions of their country. Training is provided in leadership and development, conflict resolution/mediation, community organizing and strategic planning.
