We provide free legal counseling, representation and referrals in civil matters to eligible low-income individuals and families, and we work with our clients and partners to identify and address root causes for systemic inequalities in Queens and throughout New York City.
Usually the best way to get help from QLS is to call one of our hotlines, which are listed below. On some of the hotlines staff members answer calls during the listed hours. On others, you will be asked to give us a number where we can call you back.
Consumer Law: 347-592-2181 (1st Wednesday of every month, 2:30pm to 4:30pm).
Domestic Violence: 347-592-2179 (24/7).
Education Law: 347-592-2173 (Tuesday & Thursday, 10am to 1pm).
Family Law: 347-592-2176 (Tuesday, 10am to 1pm).
Food Stamps: 347-592-2174 (Monday-Friday 9am to 5 pm).
Foreclosure Prevention & Predatory Lending: 347-592-2182 (Monday-Friday 9am to 5 pm).
HIV/LGBT Advocacy Project: 347- 592-2177 (Monday-Friday 10 am to 4 pm).
Housing Law: 347- 592- 2171 (Monday 10am to 12pm & 2pm to 4pm).
Social Security Disability (DAP): 347-592-2175 (Tuesday & Wednesday 1pm to 4pm).
Unemployment: 347-592-2170 (Monday 2pm to 4pm Wednesday 10am to 12pm).
Veterans Justice Project: 347-592-2409 (Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm).
Translation & Interpreter services are available for languages other than English.
Our basic income eligibility guidelines are 125% of the federal poverty level -- currently $26,500 a year for a family of 4. But we can often go considerably above that depending on the type of case. QLS provides legal advice and representation to thousands of people every year, but, unfortunately, our resources are limited so that we cannot guarantee that we can help every eligible person.
