The Immigrant Tenant Advocacy Program (ITAP) was established in 2005 to improve the living conditions of low-income, immigrant tenants in Queens. Since its founding, ITAP has helped thousands of immigrant families fight for dignified and affordable housing.  ITAP has gained widespread recognition for its pioneering work in response to predatory investment in affordable housing by private equity-backed firms, which seek to rapidly displace low-income tenants from gentrifying neighborhoods. Our work has resulted in notable victories for immigrant communities in Queens and Brooklyn.

We offer legal advice and assistance to tenants in Brooklyn and Queens in the following areas:
•Lease termination (holdover)
•Non-payment of rent
•General lease questions
•Billing issues
•Rent reduction for lack of repairs
•MCI challenges
