Media Center Collection
The Media Center includes DVDs, CDs, video games, audiobooks, and language learning materials on CD and DVD.

Adult Area Collection:

  • Biographies
    An extensive collection of circulating individual biographies and autobiographies; collective biographies; and genealogical resources. The reference collection includes biographical directories, almanacs, and encyclopedias.
  • Civil Service Study Guides
    Links to Civil Service websites, publishers, and bookstores, as well as access to a collection of over 500 study guides. In addition to the circulating collection, reference copies are available in the Central Library for most of the titles.
  • Law Collection
    Features statutes, case law, digests, and agency regulations issued by New York City, New York State, and the Federal government, in addition to materials on miscellaneous subjects.
  • Periodicals and Newspapers
    Includes New York daily newspapers (Daily News, New York Post, New York Times, Newsday, El Diario) along with other local, national, and special interest newspapers. Back issues are available on microfilm of The Daily News (1950--present), and New York Times (1851--present).
  • Test Guides
    An extensive collection of test guides for high school, general education, college, military and teaching.
  • Travel Collection
    Encompasses thousands of travel guides including cities, states, regions of the U.S., and foreign countries.
  • Current Collection
    Contains bestselling popular fiction and nonfiction titles.
  • Hot Picks
    Bestselling titles, both fiction and non-fiction which can be requested.
  • Fiction
    Genres include American, British, and world novels and short stories, classics and contemporary, literary and popular, mysteries, romance, science fiction, and westerns, in English and English translation. Large print books are also available.
  • Nonfiction
    Spans all aspects of language study, poetry, drama, essays and literary criticism in English and English translations.
  • International Languages
    Fiction and nonfiction titles in over 40 languages.
  • Magazines
    This includes circulating and reference copies.  The circulating collection also includes international language titles.
  • Black Experience
    Urban and other fiction by African American authors.
