Circulation Services

In keeping with Queens Library’s slogan “Enrich Your Life™,” the Circulation Services team at Central Library is committed to providing you with excellent customer and support services.

Outreach: Library Card Drive is a unique program conducted/offered by Circulation Services.  Library staff do outreach to college campuses, daycares, and other institutions to register new customers for library cards. If you would like Queens Library to have a booth at your community event, please call Mrs. Robinson-Henigan, Circulation Services Manager, at (718) 990-0759.

Services: The Circulation Desk is the place where our Customer Service Representatives are available to help you resolve any queries you may have regarding your library card account. Examples of the services we provide include:

  • Signing up and issuing library cards
  • Updating account information
  • Renewing and validating library cards
  • Borrowing, renewing and returning library materials
  • Collecting fees by cash, check, money order, and credit cards
  • Referrals to other Central Library service points or other Queens Library agencies

For telephone inquiries call us at (718) 990-0700.

The Central Library has three (3) 24-hour self check-in machines. After you have returned your library materials, you will get a receipt that indicates when and which items you returned.

To access these machines:

  • Place your Queens Library card or any library material (i.e. book, CD, or DVD) up to the reader (black box to the right of the door handle)
  • Wait for the light to turn green
  • Open the door

To use the self-check in machine:

  • Place an item on the metal shelf and the mechanical door will open
  • Slide item through the portal when the light is green
  • Repeat this process for all of your returns
  • Take your receipt from the self-check in machine
