Central Library – Collections

The Central Library @ Queens Library contains nearly one million volumes of materials in comprehensive subject collections, and more than 800 titles of academic and professional journals and magazines, as well as professional indices and abstracts. The Central Library is designated as a Government Document Depository Library. The Central Library collections are divided into the following areas:

The Archives @ Queens Library

Formerly the Long Island Collection, the Archives @ Queens Library features historical records documenting Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island.

Business, Science, & Technology

Collections include: automobile shop repair manuals, Consumer Health Resource Center, as well as federal and New York State residential income tax forms and related publications.

Fine Arts & Recreation

Collections include: art, architecture, music, theater, dance, games, photography, cinema and TV, and sports. The Media Center includes DVDs, CDs, video games, audio books, and language learning on CD and DVD.

Information Services

Access one of 48 computers in the Cyber Center and submit questions to Ask-A-Librarian.

Literature & Languages

Collections include a current collection, a Black literature reference collection, fiction, multi-lingual materials and nonfiction.

Social Sciences & History

Collections include: biography, civil service test guides, citizenship & immigration, law, periodicals & newspapers, and the Carter G. Woodson Collection.

Youth Services

Collections in the Children’s Room and Young Adult Room include: Augusta Baker Reference Collection, fiction and non-fiction, as well as a parenting skills section. Coming soon: Children’s Library Discovery Center.
