Starting the Woodside Library Garden

This week we started building the raised beds in the back of Queens Library at Woodside. The cinder blocks will extend along the new mural wall and we will plant in the empty cells. Next Tuesday at 4 p.m. we will create straw bale raised beds to plant even more veggies and flowers.

Hi! I am a horticulture intern with the Queens Botanical Garden and I would like to know if there is any way to get involved (volunteer or work) with the Woodside or Steinway garden?

Thanks for writing. We do have volunteer shifts for kids, teens and adults. Did you join the mailing list? I send out a weekly email newsletter listing all upcoming volunteer opportunities and highlighting upcoming green programs. Unfortunately, sometimes a few of our emails bounce back so if you signed up and haven't received, apologies.

You can also just email me (Lynne Serpe) directly with "Queens Library garden volunteer" in the subject header: lynneserpe.nyc@gmail.com
