Children’s Library Discovery Center

The Children's Library Discovery Center opened in 2011. It includes hands-on interactive exhibits and learning labs with our very own Discovery Team to enable children ages 3-12 to find information and to inspire interest in books, reading, and learning.

Check out our Science Fair Handbook, a simple guide that explains the steps to successfully complete a science fair assignment. It includes explanations for each step, dozens of project ideas, and a list of helpful websites. Good luck with your project. Check out your local library for books on your chosen topic!

Another new tool available for children through the library is the PowerKids Life Science database. This great resource is specifically designed for learners in grades 3 to 6. PowerKids Life Science promotes digital literacy and 21st century learning skills while offering research, report, and homework help.

The library has two great new resources for children. Ideal for school or for year around learning. BookFlix and TrueFlix are two of our databases that help children with literacy. Check them out now!

Toddler Learning Center

Bring your Child ages 18-36 months for a Little TLC! Play and learn with your child in a free, five-session workshop that include toys, games, puzzles and other items specifically selected to enhance a toddler's educational and physical development. Preregistration is required.

Get in the Game with Fitness Fantasy: An Art Workshop for Children

Imagine breaking a world record in sports or winning an Olympic medal. Picture yourself flying through the air as you dance across the sky! View images of exciting fitness feats by famous artists such as LeRoy Neiman and others, then create a picture of your own fitness fantasy using paper and cut-out figures. This workshop will inspire your personal fitness challenge: dream it, believe it, do it!
