Free lectures and workshops in the most widely spoken immigrant languages of Queens on topics essential to new immigrants' acculturation, such as citizenship and job training information, advice on helping children learn, and information on available social services.

Cultural Programs:

Free readings, concerts and workshops celebrating the literary, performing and folk arts of immigrants from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Keep Your Heart Healthy with Preventive Care (in Russian)   [Add to My Events] In this program for Russian speakers, the audience will learn what preventive health care is; common heart conditions; how to recognize early symptoms; and how to prevent and manage heart disease.

A Celebration of Eid with Turkish Music and Food    [Add to My Events] Seljuk Akdas is a Turkish born ney master and talented guitarist. Please join us as he explains the spiritual side of Ramadan with the use of the ney (a reed flute) and then celebrates Eid with the guitar. Traditional Eid sweets and drinks will be provided. Do You Take Care of a Person with a Memory Problem? (Program in Mandarin Chinese)   [Add to My Events] The Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter, is offering caregivers a monthly support group in Mandarin. Caring for a person with Alzheimer’s disease or any of the other dementias presents unique challenges. Our support group will be a secure and safe place to share your experiences. The next three meetings will take place on Saturdays, July 24, August 28 and September 25.

Teatro IATI: The Brave Calf    [Add to My Events] Join us for this theatrical performance, centering on a young calf who goes to the mountains, where he befriends a rabbit and a buzzard. He also meets a selfish bull who refuses to share water from the only lake in the region. The calf, his new friends and nature peacefully face off the bull and defeat him, stopping him from taking possession of all the natural resources in the region. This leads the bull to reflect about the importance of friendship, team-work and the environment.
