Cultural Redress:
Reinterpreting Fashions from the Index of American Design
September 7, 2006 – January 14, 2007

Cultural Redress features watercolor renderings of 18th and 19th century American costume next to the contemporary artworks they have inspired. The watercolor renderings on view in this exhibition were created under the auspices of the Works Progress Administration’s Index of American Design, and are a part of the Queens Library’s permanent collection. Learn more about fashion, contemporary art, and American history and culture! 

Use this exhibition to generate classroom discussion regarding:

- American history
-Visual art and culture

School group visits consist of a group discussion of the works on view and related craft activity.  For more information, or to schedule a free guided tour for your group please call (718) 990-8665.

Reservation slots are available Tuesday – Thursday from September 19, 2006 – January 11, 2007 in the morning or afternoon.  Please contact the Gallery to schedule a visit at least two weeks in advance of your preferred date. 

Admission is free, all ages welcome.
