The Inventions of Leonardo da Vinci

Children and their families are invited to see, touch and experience models of the work of Renaissance genius Leonardo da Vinci in our hands-on exhibition, The Inventions of Leonardo da Vinci, on view June 24 – September 2, 2005. Admission is free.
Who designed a helicopter and a tank over four hundred years before they came into general use? Leonardo da Vinci. Not only did Leonardo paint the Mona Lisa, he also conceived and planned several mechanical devices we still use today. See reproductions of Leonardo’s scientific and technical drawings, then interact with three-dimensional models based on the drawings at one of six stations. Learn how Leonardo’s drawings contain the guiding principles of many devices that have revolutionized society and industry nearly four centuries later. This exhibition includes models of Leonardo’s flying machine and helicopter, and interactive models of his paddle wheel ship and pressing press. Perfect for the young inventor!
