From Colonialism to Communism: Historical Development of Cuban Art   
As African slaves were brought to Cuba from Spain, Cuba became a mélange of Tainos, Africans, and Spanish. Each culture brought in remarkable contributions, which together became a distinctive Cuban culture. This lecture will explore the development of Cuban art in relation to its colonial history.

Religion as a form of Resistance, Exploring Folk Catholicism in Contemporary Cuban Art  
Post colonialism is today, roughly identified as the forms of cultural resistance and cultural assimilation to the colonizing countries. This lecture will examine vernacular Catholicism as a form of resistance and explore themes and imageries that relate to Santeria and other religious practices found in contemporary Cuban art.
