JANA LEO

Jana Leo is a conceptual artist interested in addressing both the architecture of domesticity and the pleasure and comfort associated which such spaces. She is known for turning private spaces, like her studio, over to the public while developing a series of public spaces that promote a sense of intimacy. Constantly redefining concepts crucial to the domestic, Leo deals with the construction of mental space and the creation of a place. Her work creates opportunities for unexpected, unusual communications between strangers.

Jana Leo holds a Ph. D. in Philosophy (2004) and Masters in Aesthetics (1992) from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. She earned a MA in Architecture from the School of Architecture at Princeton University. Among the many grants and awards Leo received are a Botin’s grant for a residency in the International Studio Curatorial Program, a grant from the Pollack/Krasner Foundation, and an Architecture Grant from Princeton University.
