Use the software that came with your wireless card or computer to configure the settings and to verify a connection to the library's wireless network. Please be sure that your wireless device is enabled.
*Please check your manufacturers wireless hardware instructions for details. Wireless devices will vary based on manufacturer
If your wireless device is enabled and set to automatically search for available networks after your operating system starts, you will see a pop up window indicating that wireless networks have been found.
Click on the wireless icon in the taskbar to see the list. Click QBPL_WIRELESS, and then click the “Connect” button to make a connection to the Library’s wireless network. If your laptop is set to automatically connect to any available wireless network, as shown below, you must still select QBPL_WIRELESS then click the “Connect” button.
Once you are connected you might see a message similar to the following screen shot:
Next, open your Internet browser. No library card and PIN are needed for you to navigate around the Queens Library webpages. For any Internet website outside of http://www.queenslibrary.org you will be prompted to enter your library card and pin number. If you need to set a PIN please speak with staff at the Customer Service desk. When you first attempting to access any website away from queenslibrary.org web page, or if your homepage is not http://www.queenslibrary.org, you will be prompted to log in with your library card number and PIN. If the “Security Information” box pops up on your screen, as shown in the screen shot below, please select “Yes” in order to continue to the Queens Library log in page.
After you log in your Internet browser will be redirected to the first website you attempted to access outside of the queenslibrary.org webpage’s.
