LAURA SOLOMON on ABEL AUER

Laura Solomon
the dream is often of a nest
when it bends
      forward in a dream
         back
               sways this way
that the wind is a friend
      it pretends
         and summons all imaginary
               birds with rhymes
soon real birds too
come
      one makes a signal
         safe to land
               to pretend they’re real too
      the nest its best
friend the wind when it bends
               so convincing
true
the dream bends too
and soon the branch upon which the dream is built
and soon the tree which moves the branch
and soon the roots
and soon the earth the real earth
too soon the earth
