Ebru Art Classes with Mustafa Yasar (In Turkish and English)

Location: Sunnyside
Registration: Registration is not yet open for this program. Please check back closer to the program date.

Learn the Turkish art of ebru. Paper marbling (ebru) is the art of creating colorful patterns by sprinkling and brushing color pigments on a pan of oily water and then transferring this pattern to paper. Individual sessions every Saturday, 6/24, 7/22, 8/26, 9/23, 10/28, 11/25 @ 2:30 p.m. Participants must register for each session starting two weeks ahead of the program date either in person at Sunnyside or by calling 718-784-3033. Limited to the first 10 applicants per session.

Windowfarm Workshop: Hydroponics at Home

Location: Sunnyside
Registration: Not required

Windowfarms are vertical, indoor, hydroponic gardens that let you grow plants year-round in almost any window using natural light, the climate control of your living space and organic “liquid soil.” Learn how to build a D.I.Y. version in this hands-on workshop. The Windowfarm we build will be given to a participant.

Grow Your Own Edible Mushrooms

Learn about mushroom culture and how to grow edible mushrooms right in your own home! We will inoculate sterilized growing medium with fungus spores and start a colony of oyster mushrooms in a milk crate. One lucky participant will win a DIY mushroom-growing kit to take home.
