Catapult Lab 2015: For Teens

Teens couldn’t get enough of Catapult Lab last summer, and now it is back! Participants will make all new mini-launchers from common office supplies and test them out with mini-marshmallows. This program is only for teens in grades 7-12. Space is limited!

"Someone Must Wash the Dishes:" Celebrate Women's Equality Day with a 1912 Anti-Suffrage Satire!

Location: Central Library

Many women fought against getting the vote, but none with more charm, prettier clothes and less logic than the character in this 1912 satire by Marie Jenney Howe. The role of the unintentionally hilarious anti-suffragette is played by Michele LaRue, who tours nationally performing works from the American Gilded Age.

Haitian Creole for Beginners

This course is for people with little or no prior knowledge of Haitian Creole (Kreyòl). Participants will learn speaking, reading, writing, and listening comprehension within a Haitian cultural context. Core concepts of grammar, phonetics and other aspects of language structure will be covered. At the end of the course, participants will be able to conduct simple conversations in Kreyòl and write at the basic level. Space is limited.
