QUEENS LIBRARY EXPANDS LENDING FREE GOOGLE TABLETS

When Humanity Fails: An Exhibition

Location: Glen Oaks

The "When Humanity Fails: Holocaust Exhibition" educates about the events that led to the Holocaust during WWII as well the stories of the courageous U.S. soldiers who liberated the concentration camps and rescued the survivors. The exhibit focuses on the lessons that can be learned from this horrific time in our history and how our emotional and intellectual responses can be channeled into constructive action and awareness.

Never Again: What We Have and Haven't Learned since the Holocaust

Location: Glen Oaks
Registration: Not required

Tracy Garrison-Feinberg, director of the Claire Friedlander Education Institute at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center in Glen Cove, will discuss continued examples of intolerance since the end of World War II, looking at extremism in the United States and beyond. She will focus in particular on recent local examples of intolerance, including the resurgence of the Klan in eastern Long Island and the murder of Marcelo Lucero. A guided tour of the exhibit When Humanity Fails will follow.
