Summer Reading: Wordy Wednesday

Location: Rochdale Village
Registration: Not required

Join us each Wednesday to share a love of words. We’ll be starting a Book Buddies program where kids in grades 5 and up will read to younger kids. Join us as a reader or a listener! We’ll create bookmarks and cards for homebound Queens residents; act out stories; playing games like Scrabble, Bananagrams and Mad Libs.

Google CS First: Game Design

Location: Rochdale Village

Details: Customers are required to attend all sessions of this program. Registering for this session will reserve your spot for the entire program.

Rochdale Village is proud to host eight sessions of Google CS First. In this free series children will learn the basic of video games design through one-hour guided sessions and activities. Summer Reading: Crafty Thursday

Summer Reading: Maker Monday

Join Rochdale Village Library for STEAM (Science, Technology, English, Art and Math) challenges this summer! During the course of the summer, we’ll build catapults, “Easter egg” rockets, slime, mazes, a solar oven, 3-D geometric shapes and more. There will be individual as well as team challenges. In addition, we’ll be building our own cardboard arcade, based on Caine's Arcade, http://cainesarcade.com/, that we’ll share with the library community.

Summer Reading: Techy Tuesday

Location: Rochdale Village

Free technology for all ages. Our youngest visitors will be introduced to Tumblebooks Library’s animated, talking picture books. School-age youngsters interested in learning more about Microsoft Office programs will learn about Word, PowerPoint and Publisher. You’ll have time to make a special invitation to a birthday party or great pool or create a slideshow about how you are enjoying your summer which you will be able to present at the end of the summer.
