In moving forward, Queens Library will continue to maintain the same values and levels of service to our customers even as our new buildings and renovated facilities take on the look of the future and our enhanced technology brings tomorrow into our daily lives.
Jackson Heights Branch — The proposed, new state-of-the-art Jackson Heights Branch will be three times larger than the current building which will be replaced. The new facility will be constructed on the same site. An expanded building will address the overwhelming need to provide for increased adult and children’s services, a meeting room to accommodate 100 people and an Adult Learning Center.
Cambria Heights Branch — A new Cambria Heights facility (under construction) will be three times larger than the existing rental, and located two blocks west at 218-13 Linden Boulevard. Expanded space will be provided for increased adult and children’s services and a meeting room will accommodate 50 people.
Long Island City Branch — Also under construction, the Long Island City Branch will be three times larger than the combined existing rentals, which will be closed. The new branch will anchor an educational complex with P.S. 111. Expanded spaces will be provided for increased adult and children’s services, a meeting room to accommodate 50 people and a new Adult Learning Center.
Wireless Internet Access — Will begin at Queens Library locations in 2005 so customers can come in with their own laptop computers and be able to access online resources from any convenient spot, without waiting for a free computer workstation.
