How to Borrow Video Materials

  1. Customers must be in possession of a valid adult Queens Borough Public Library Card, and be a borrower in good standing. Children with a juvenile card may only borrow juvenile videos.
  2. Videocassettes are loaned for THREE DAYS. Materials borrowed on Thursday are due on Sunday or the next day the Library is open (Note: The Library is closed on Sundays in July & August). Documentary and instructional tapes are loaned for seven (7) days. Please check your receipt for due date of materials.
  3. Customers may have a combined maximum of three video materials on their library card at any time.
  4. This is a FREE service, as long as the materials are returned on time.
  5. VIDEO MATERIALS FOR ADULTS - LATE CHARGES ARE $3.00 PER TITLE PER DAY, INCLUDING SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS
  6. VIDEO MATERIALS FOR CHILDREN - LATE CHARGES ARE $1.00 PER TITLE PER DAY, INCLUDING SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS
  7. Video materials must be returned to the location from which they were borrowed.
  8. The customer is responsible for returning the materials in good condition. The full cost of lost or damaged cassettes will be charged to the borrower. If damaged materials can be repaired, customers will be charged for the cost of repair. Customers will be charged for missing and damaged labels.
  9. Videocassettes may not be reserved or renewed.
Important Points
  • Copyright laws limit these video materials to home viewing only and prohibit their duplication.
  • Keep video materials away from direct sunlight or sources of heat
  • Video materials and video playback equipment must be at room temperature two (2) hours before use.
  • Videocassette recorder heads must be cleaned regularly, according to the amount of player use, in order to prevent damage to the videocassettes.
  • PLEASE REWIND VIDEOCASSETTES BEFORE RETURNING.
  • Failure to comply with these policies will result in the suspension of borrowing privileges.
  • The Queens Borough Public Library assumes no responsibility for damage to any VCR, camcorder, DVD player or other equipment, privately or personally owned, which may result from use of its video materials.
