CALL - Customer Account Library Line

Check Your Account by Telephone

Queens Borough Public Library lets customers from any touch-tone telephone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

  • Renew library materials.
  • Check availability of materials on hold.
  • Get a list of overdue items.
  • Find out about outstanding fines.
  • Listen to news about Library events.

What Do I Need to Use CALL?

  1. A touch-tone telephone. Customers with rotary telephones can take advantage of the service by calling their local branches during regular business hours.
  2. A personal identification number or PIN.
    • If the Library has your social security number on file, the last four digits of your social security number will be automatically assigned as your PIN; OR
    • If Queens Library does not have your social security number on file, then you can choose any 4-digit number to be your PIN number at the circulation desk of any library location. If you want to change your PIN number, your physical presence is also required.

How Do I Use CALL?

  1. Have your Queens Library Card and your PIN handy.

  2. Phone  718-990-8508  from a touch-tone phone. Rotary phone users please call your local branch during regular hours of service.

  3. After you have connected, follow the simple instructions given by the CALL system:

    • As prompted by the CALL system, enter your Queens Library Card number, followed by the pound sign (#).
    • Then you enter your PIN followed by the pound sign (#).
    • If you have entered the correct information, you have the following options:

Options Number Action
For Overdue Items Press 1. Lists up to nine (9) overdue items on your card. Note that these items can be renewed over the telephone.
For Fines on Card Press 2. Lists Outstanding fines on your library card.
For Materials on Hold Press 3. Lists up to nine (9) items that you have on hold on your library card.
For Renewals of Materials Press 4. To renew materials, go here. Note that over the telephone, you can't renew:
  • Items on Hold for other Customers
  • Bestseller items for 7/21 day Loan
  • Videos
For System Updates Press 5. Hear about library closings and system down time.
To Repeat These Messages Press 0. Missed something? All of the above will be repeated when you press 0.
